He was employed at the amusement park under its original ownership…when Rocktime Night Club impresario “Real Bobby Steele” was in charge. So when the bank comes looking for a new owner, Melvin knows he's the right fit. But Melvin Rollin has no idea of the park's sketchy history. Grand Strand edition by Reid J Barwick Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
I was fascinated by the concept of this book when it was announced... A book about the inner workings of a theme park being the background for a storyline about what happened there? And it promised to weave in and out behind the scenes facts from not just any theme park, but Hard Rock Park, an amusement park that should have a book written about what did go wrong? Seems like something right up my alley!Unfortunately, the book is difficult to read due to major grammar and spelling errors, abrupt changes to what you are reading about and a story that every so often becomes so unbelievable it takes you out of it. I found myself rereading multiple sections to try to get what I missed, something you'll have to do with this book.
If you can look past the journalist who can afford to take an entire month off of his job to fly around the world and who (spoiler alert) suddenly becomes a sniper to take out the bad guys himself even though the FBI is closing in, you'll find an amusing setting to a story and some interesting details about getting a park to work. If you aren't in need of that, you'll find little here.
I gave it a second star specifically due to the fun setting. I wish this book had a couple more passes in editing as it could have really been interesting, but as is, avoid unless you are the most ardent theme park fan.

Grand Strand edition by Reid J Barwick Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
now y'all i'm a former "part time" resident of myrtle beach and i was there when the old wacamaw pottery was thrashed for the hard rock park , which on paper seemed like a great idea but in reality not so much , so you can imagine my shock coming back down to the grand strand to see the park changed it's name which shocked me and the folowing summer the place in it's second incarnation was gone, through that last summer i'd gone there in '10 i'd found hard rock shot glasses at south of the border, anyways found the book via the hard rock park/freestyle music park's wiki page it seems luke a good idea for a book but why not a nonfiction acount from the writers who actually couvered it from the sun times (grrrr)
Loved this book from start to finish... If you ever wondered what happened to Hard Rock Park and the Freestyle Music Park... I mean Rocktime Park and Good Time Park this book holds the answers.... Nice job Reid Barwick. I haven't read a book in years and this fiction put me back in the fast lane! Thanks to this Edition! Well worth the $$$ and day or so it takes to read!!!!
I purchased this book after reading a press release for it last year. The book is a fictional account of the now defunct Hard Rock Amusement Park. Overall this book has a good plot and is intriguing to read.
The concept behind the book is quite intriguing, the book is quite horrible. I only got about 10% of the way through the book and could not turn another page. From time to time I run across an author that enjoys useless words and information too much. I believe Reid J. Barwick is one of them. Once you get past the excess in the writing you run into incomplete sentences, sentences with words left out and other signs of someone that needs a strong editor/publisher proofing their work.
I would entertain attempting to read this book again if someone edits it and cleans up the writing so that it is readable.
How did I end here? Well, I was trying to figure out what really happened at Hard Rock Park, a 400 million dollar park that went bankupt miserably and abruptly. The only cross-reference to it was this book. Unfortunately, it didn't add much. Actually, it added nothing the book is badly written, no grammar/orthographic review, a total nonsense plot. Real-life facts don't mix well with teenage fantasies. Seriously a journalist that owns a sniper rifle to get rid of Russian Mafia expert killers? Get a life...
